1. 2020 Vincent Pinard Sancerre Nuance, Loire Valley, France
$29 glass
The Pinard brothers have created a supremely elegant and classy sauvignon balance that is so different to the Australian version of this varietal. It has fresh citrus, lemon leaf and white blossom notes that just melt in the mouth. It is lusciously gentle on the palate with just enough oak to give it depth and structure. This is as good as a Sancerre that you will ever taste with that characteristic minerality that makes these Loir Valley superstars so good. Absolutely delicious!
2. 2019 Le Domaine d’Henri Chablis ’Saint Pierre’ Chablis
$27 glass
Named after the 12th century church in Chablis, this beautiful Chablis is made from estate grown grapes grown in Maligny, Chablis & Fleys. The chalky soils and the typical continental climate make for a stunning expression of Chardonnay. The nose is rich with green apple notes balanced with the fine mineral edges and ripe melon. The taste is full, with refreshing acidity and great length. Very classy!
3. 2021 Prophet’s Rock Home Vineyard Pinot Noir, Central Otago, NZ
$31 glass
“Fragrant, dense wine with cassis, blackcurrant, dark chocolate and nutty oak flavours. Impressive, attention-grabbing wine that envelopes the senses. Clarly from favourable vintage and with obvious cellaring potential”
- 97 Points – Bob Campbell - The Real Review
It would be hard to find a better Pinot noir is Australia or New Zealand.
4. 2015 Marabino ‘Archimede’ Nero d’Avola Single Vineyard Cru, Sicily
$29 glass
The Archimede is an intense ruby red colour with violet reflections. It has an invigorating nose with ripe red fruits, humus, leather, and tobacco. The taste is rich, fresh, and intense, with velvety tannins and good persistence. This is a very meaty wine that is both tangy and juicy on the palate. Simply gorgeous!
