Tasting Notes
Whether toasting to life's milestones or creating memorable moments, the 2014 Hugh Hamilton Drama Queen Sparkling Wine is the epitome of sophistication. Seize this opportunity to savor a vintage that transcends time and captures the essence of McLaren Vale in a bottle. This gorgeous sparkling is made Méthode Traditionnelle; exactly the same method the French use in making Champagne. This wine is the real deal. If it was French, it would probably be triple the price!
the 2014 vintage Drama Queen has been aged for five years in bottle on lees form a perfectly balanced blend of Pinot Noir, adding richness fullness and weight; Chardonnay, adding a bright and lively acidity; and Pinot Meunier for that little touch of strawberry.
The nose and palate
Drama queen has an entire bakery of brioche flavours coming from its five years on lees. You can savour early season strawberries, rose petals, pink lady apples, and just a titch of bay leaf with the very lightest citrus twist. Hiding behind the fruit are deeper savoury characters. A multitude of bubbles ride light amidst the creamy texture. Crisp and linen-fresh it is phenomenally lingering and intense.
Every occasion is worthy of a little drama! The Drama Queen loves a cocktail party or any other celebratory event, like waking up in the morning. Pair with Canapes; bright tasty morsels ideally delivered with a flourish by impeccably trained wait staff at your favourite restaurant. Or anywhere really! The Drama Queen is a stunning example of Australian wine making skill and quality that rivals the best the French can achieve.
