Paul Deville Carte Noire Annata's new House Champagne

Champagne Jean-Paul Deville tells the story of several generations of Champenois and winemakers, in love with their terroir. Upon her coming back to Champagne in 2011, Jean-Paul’s daughter, Marie-Alice, decided to go back to university to learn more about winemaking and bring new technical skills to the family business. She passed the National Oenologist Diploma and graduated from Reims University in 2015. Since, Jean-Paul and Marie-Alice team up on the Deville champagne production process.

Jean Paul Deville's Brut "Carte Noire" Champagne has been created from long standing vigneron family values and commitment. It is one of many family Champagnes linked to the ancient traditions of the Grand Cru of Verzy. In keeping with the local village customs, the "Carte Noire" is a blend primarily based on Pinot Noir together with a small percentage of Chardonnay which gives it a refined elegance . It has a fresh and fragrant character , youthful and pleasantly fruity aromas which together create a very unique personality.

This gorgeous Brut Champagne perfectly expresses the personality of the Verzy Grand Cru terroir, especially famous for the quality of its Pinot Noir. The vineyards are located near the coteaux de la Montagne de Reims. The Maison Jean Paul Deville produces Champagne with an artisanal face based on an ancient savoir-faire that can count on the experience of five generations of vignerons. At the end of the harvest, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes are gently pressed and vinified separately. After several months, they are blended to create the final cuvée. The second fermentation takes place in the bottle, according to the Champenoise Method, with ageing on the lees for 24 months before dégorgement.

In the glass, it has a beautiful bright straw yellow colour and tiny bubbles of lasting persistence. The bouquet is fragrant and fruity, with scents of citrus, lime zest, some delicate red currant aromas, sensations of bread crust, hints of dried fruit and light toasted nuances. The entry on the palate is lively and clear, dry and pleasantly fruity, with a harmonious, savoury finish of lively citrus freshness. A perfect Champagne to enjoy anytime.
