2017 Shafer ‘Relentless’ Syrah, Stag’s Leap District, Napa Valley

This wine honors long-time Shafer Winemaker Elias Fernandez and his relentless pursuit of quality. Sourced from a single ridgetop vineyard adjacent to the southern border of Stags Leap District, the grapes for Relentless are a proprietary blend of Syrah and Petite Syrah.

Wine Spectator scored this 94 points saying "Deep and powerfully built, with a rich and polished texture that highlights wild berry and blueberry flavors that show notes of espresso, smoky beef and black pepper. Finishes with big but refined tannins.

2020 Ridge Vineyards Estate Cabernet Sauvignon

“the most internationally admired producer of American Cabernet Sauvignon, (originally) from the historic Monte Bello vineyard in the Santa Cruz mountains. Ridge produces age-worthy, terroir-driven, single vineyard Cabernets and Zinfandels that demonstrate vineyard character and vintage variance over winemaking wizardry and homogeneity…”

Jancis Robinson OBE MW, The Oxford Companion to Wine

For yet another year, this dual estate Californian wine firm has been consistently named in America's ‘dress circle’ of prestige wineries (quality-wise), by the USA's wine press.

Additionally they’ve been rated quality-wise at slot #7 from amongst the 'Best Wines in the World' article by Drinks International Magazine at the end of 2023, and have been recognised by California’s Sustainable Federation as ’the largest single Certified Organic vineyard owner in California.’

To say that they are sensational wines, is an understatement.

Inky purple hues with dark plum, black cherry, cedar, cola and sweet toasted oak on the nose. A full-bodied entry with black berry, cocoa powder, brown spices and peppermint on the palate. Layered textures and focused tannins lead to a long finish.

2020 Flametree SRS Wilyabrup Cabernet Sauvignon

“This is one of the best cabernets yet from Flametree. It also seems to be the most structured. Deeply concentrated ripe fruit is the basis. The aromas captivate with exotic violet, blackcurrant and a decent dollop of chocolate. The palate is intricately woven with that mix of fine firm tannins, fine-grained oak and opulent fruit carrying long. The palate has a slightly grainy texture which adds to its structural and textural appeal. This has tonnes of cellaring time if you want”.

2017 Teusner Righteous FG Shiraz

Intense black fruits, plums, dark chocolate and warm spices. In the winery we treat these old blokes with the respect they deserve, hand-picked, ‘Rolls Royce’ treatment all the way. Fermented in open vats with twice daily pump-overs before spending some time resting up in a mix of new French (50%) and a bit of older, seasoned gear. Packed with Barossa Shiraz goodness, the flavours seem to go on and on and on. The years have been very kind to us, this latest release is right up there…and “FG” just seems to say it all when it comes to describing the best Shiraz at Teusner!

2022 Winmark Single Vineyard Reserve Chardonnay

The Best Young Chardonnay 2021-2022

Winmark Wines’ 2021 Winmark Single Vineyard Reserve Chardonnay has been awarded the trophy for Best Young Chardonnay 2021-2022 at the NSW Small Winemakers Wine Show.

It’s the first trophy for Winmark Wines and reflects the capabilities of this small vineyard. We are excited to see what the future holds for this young wine producer.

For half a century, this site has grown exceptional fruit, with a proud history of producing highly acclaimed chardonnay.

2021 Nielson Chardonnay (Santa Barbara County)

“The nose on this bottling is pleasantly rich with whipped cream, apple blossom and pineapple aromas. The palate picks up a tense lemon-peel edge to counteract the baked apple, macadamia nut and toasted pastry flavors”. — Matt Kettman The Santa Barbara Independent,

2021 Sokol Blosser 2021 Estate Pinot Gris (Willamette Valley)

“Made with fruit from estate vineyards in the Eola-Amity and Dundee Hills, this orchard stroll begins with aromas of pear, Golden Delicious apple and white peach. A bergamot tea note floats in the background for added interest. Flavors like lemon gelato, lime zest and shredded coconut combine with a trace of lavender and talc. Dry and medium-bodied, with enough acidity to wake your palate right up”. Michael Alberty - The Oregonian

NV Angels & Cowboys Brut (Methode Traditionnelle), California

Angels & Cowboys Brut is crafted in the traditional Méthode Traditionnelle. This Méthode Traditionnelle Brut exhibits attractive notes of golden delicious apple and citrus blossom. Fresh and zesty on the entry, the enduring bubbles release fragrant toasted brioche and roasted almond. A creamy finish completes the profile of this elegant blend.

Blend: 56% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay, 4% Reserve Wine

2023 Port Phillip Quartier Pinot Gris, Mornington Peninsula

I’m a fan of wines that feature, as part of their flavour profile, a keen line of grapefruit and this is one such wine. Pear, citrus and apple characters add extra bite and flesh, while flint notes add some flash. This for me is excellent buying and drinking.
