Queen Mary may be the first person you think of when considering women of Denmark and Australia, but another woman with Danish-Australian connections has an extraordinary track record of success across two very different industries. Join us to hear about the achievements of visionary entrepreneur Karin Adcock who is our guest speaker at Annata’s International Women’s Day lunch on Saturday 8th March.

Her home country of Denmark awarded Karin a Prince Henrik’s Medal of Honour in recognition of outstanding services to trade relations between Denmark and Australia in 2009. She established Pandora Jewellery Australia from her Sydney garage and doubled the sales rates of Pandora Britain and made three times the sales rate of Pandora USA before selling it back to PANDORA in 2012. Under her leadership, Pandora became a household name. Then her entrepreneurial spirit led her to acquire the iconic but neglected Poole’s Rock Vineyards in the Hunter Valley. Her vision was to transform it into a world class wine tourism destination. She named it Winmark Wines & Art Gallery and started an all-embracing transformation journey. She hired the best winemakers and viticulturalist while winning the hearts of fellow Hunter Valley vignerons. She quickly became a beacon of light for the local wine industry for her wholistic and inclusive work well beyond her vineyard borders. The vineyard has now been regenerated to its former glory while building a new Cellar Door, accommodation for up to 26 guests and a fabulous Sculpture Park and an Art Gallery.” Her chardonnays all score above 90 and earn great praise, with her ICON Chardonnay gaining 96 points from James Halliday. Her Winmark Wines property has been short listed for Best New Winery in the 2024 Halliday Wine Companion.
