Tasting Notes

The colour is deep ruby red with garnet reflections. The nose is intense with notes of dried cherries, blackberries, and figs. There are hints of raisins and plums from the drying process together with subtle layers of cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg. The palate is full-bodied and velvety, with a rich. There is a harmonious balance of ripe black fruits (cherry, blackberry) with secondary notes of dried fruits (raisins, figs). The fresh acidity balances the richness, giving the wine elegance and structure. The tannins are firm but smooth, providing a solid framework for the wine’s depth. The finish is long with echoes of dried fruits, cocoa, and a touch of balsamic.

Wine Making

The winemakers are Luigi Andreoli and Andrea Zerman. Farina of Veneto was founded in the early 1900s with a passion and desire for producing the highest quality wines possible from the Veneto region. Cousins Claudio and Elena Farina, now 3rd generation, are responsible for continuity of the Farina tradition and oversee all elements of production and evolution. The wine itself is crafted using the traditional appassimento method, where carefully selected grapes are dried to concentrate their flavours before fermentation, resulting in a rich, full-bodied, and velvety wine.

The Vineyard

The entrance of the 4th Farina generation, represented today by Claudio and Elena, began in the 2000s and marked a revolutionary era of expansion and modernization in Farina. The administrative and production structures were expanded, including new bottling and wine storage areas and several hospitality spaces. Two fruit lofts for drying the Amarone and Recioto grapes were built and equipped with a state-of-the-art air conditioning system to evenly regulate airflow, temperature, and humidity. All wines from Farina are produced with a key focus on sustainable farming and ongoing care of vine health. Whilst not certified organic, Claudio and Elena are attentive to this cultivation method. No pesticides are ever used, and natural techniques for pest control are encouraged.
