Tasting Notes

The colour is intense straw yellow. The nose is intense with hints of flint, citrus, grapefruit, cedar and aromatic herbs. The linear, medium-bodied palate features ripe apricot, pear, lemon and saline notes before an almond close. Bright acidity keeps it fresh and balanced. Minerality is the common thread on the palate. Savory and powerful with freshness and length.

The Winemaker

Gian Paolo Repetto and his wife Marina own this beautiful vineyard in the Tortona hills. Their motto is "Ancient Method, Modern Technology". Gian is the winemaker. He is an ex-engineer who changed career to winemaking in 2013, bringing an engineer’s precision to Vigneti Repetto. All grapes are hand-picked and grown organically. Gian says nature must be respected in the vineyard and cellar, obtaining grapes of the highest quality. As an engineer, he uses technology to avoid the need for chemicals (pesticides, additives) and innovative Vinooxygen® technology avoids racking & oxidation so sulphur can be kept to an absolute minimum. All fermentation occurs in oxygen controlled  Stainless Steel tanks.

About The Winery

The Vigneti Repetto vineyards are in Sarezzano, in the Tortonesi Hills, on the Unesco Belvedere Tortona Sarezzano side in the easternmost Piedmont. The estate has 15 hectares of vines with yields limited to 6-7 tonnes/Ha vs the allowed 8 tonnes by the DOC. The vineyards extend over 26 hectares with 18 hectares planted  between 240 and 340 meters above sea level. The soil is mostly the calcareous clay soils of the Sant'Agata Fossili marl and has a profound influence on the wine flavour. The region is also famous for porcini mushrooms, white and black truffles.
