Tasting Notes

Great structure and earthy notes. Cherry, leather, forest floor, violet and other classic Nebbiolo flavours. It is ruby red, dry with a good body and tannins. This wine is an outstanding combination of two local grapes: the rich Nebbiolo blended with the aromatic and elegant Freisa, a varietal rarely exported due to its low production.

The Winemaker

The winemaker is Manuel Marinacci.  The vineyards comprise an area of ​​approximately four hectares, divided equally between Dolcetto, Barbera and Nebbiolo from Barbaresco. Manuel personally follows all phases of Nebbiolo processing: from cultivation practices to harvesting and winemaking. Total annual production is 20,000 bottles in in San Rocco Seno and 6,000 bottles in Barbaresco. The vinification is simple with fermentation in cement tanks and then three years in 35 hectolitre vats and some barriques that have been used at least three times before.

About The Winery

The vineyards and winery are in San Rocco Seno d'Elvio in Barbaresco. Marinacci follows his viticultural passion developed over years of study in agronomy and oenology. He produced the first vintage in 2004. Manuel is not one of those producers who have winemaking in their blood for countless generations, but he started his winery in 2002 by renting just 4 hectares of vineyards. He has always been dedicated to the cultivation of the great Langhe grape varieties. The terroir of this cool vineyard consists of the famous white marl. This acts as a kind of sponge to provide the roots with enough cooling in the hot summer and the water is stored excellently in this poor soil. Manuel's 'Clos' is in beautiful condition and he performs all the work in the vineyards. The vineyards are organic, not certified.
